AI Credits and Usage Policy

How ContX measures AI usage, what each plan includes each month, and how usage above an allowance works. Part of the Agreement under the Master Subscription Agreement, published at https://contx.ai/legal/ai-usage/.

Version 1.0Effective October 1, 2026Last updated November 2026

1. About this policy

This AI Credits and Usage Policy (“Usage Policy”) describes how ContX measures and limits use of its AI features, what each plan includes each month, and how usage above an allowance works. It is part of the Agreement under the Master Subscription Agreement (“MSA”). Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the MSA.

Prices for plans and add-ons are set in your Order and on the pricing page. This policy sets the rules for usage. If this policy and your Order conflict, your Order applies.

2. AI credits

AI Credits are the units ContX uses to measure AI features. Text features are measured by the AI work they actually do: credits = (input tokens + 5 × output tokens) ÷ 10,000, rounded up, with a minimum of 1 credit per action. Features that use more advanced AI models count up to 4 times as much. Images use a fixed 15 credits each.

Typical credit use, measured across ContX workspaces:

AI actionTypical credits
AI Assistant question4 (simple) to 15 (complex)
Website chat bot reply2
Write an article of about 1,000 words (text)1
Write a long-form article of about 2,500 words (text)2
Write a social post or caption (text)1
Revise a section1
Check brand voice1
AI image, new or edited15
Draft a content brief from an AI visibility gap4
Build lead context1 to 2, plus 1 enriched lead
Chat bot learning run3
Rebuild brand context30

These are typical amounts, not fixed prices. Your actual use depends on your business: the length of your content, the size of your brand and business context, your CRM data, your website traffic and the length of a conversation. It can be higher or lower than shown. The product shows an estimate before larger actions, and the usage page shows exactly what each action used.

Generations that fail or return an error do not use credits. ContX updates this table from measured use; see section 13 for how changes apply.

3. Monthly allowances

Each plan includes the following allowances each billing month, shared across your workspace:

PlanAI creditsAI videoEnriched leadsConnect your AI
Starter500Not availableNot includedNot available
Growth5,000Bought per video100Add-on, per AI channel
Accelerate12,0002 videos2001 AI channel included
EnterpriseAs set in the OrderAs set in the OrderAs set in the OrderIncluded

Allowances reset on the same day each billing month, including on annual plans. Unused allowances do not roll over. Allowances are the same in every region and currency.

Starter credits cover the AI Assistant and AI writing help on content. The AI chat bot, AI campaigns and the AI context builder are available from Growth.

4. What does not use credits

AI video is counted per video (section 8). AI visibility is priced per brand. Lead enrichment is counted against the enriched-lead allowance (section 9).

Actions run through Connect your AI, on your own AI provider’s API key, do not use credits. Your agreement with that provider applies to them. AI video and lead enrichment still count against your allowances.

5. Automatic and visitor-driven usage

Some AI work runs without anyone on your team clicking. It draws on the same allowance and is shown separately on the usage page as “Automatic”.

Website chat bot: replies to your website visitors use credits from your allowance. A daily chat bot allowance protects the rest of your credits; once it is used for the day, or when your monthly allowance is used, the bot shows a lead-capture form instead of AI replies, so no visitor is turned away. AI replies resume the next day.

AI visibility: the first report is generated once your contract is signed. It then runs once per brand each billing month, covering up to 15 buyer questions per AI engine. It is priced per brand (section 4) and does not use credits.

Brand audits and brand context rebuilds run only when a user starts them, after showing the expected credits.

6. When an allowance runs out

When an allowance is used up, the AI features that draw on it pause until the allowance resets, unless you have turned on Extra Usage (section 7). Features that do not use AI keep working. ContX does not bill anything above the allowance unless Extra Usage is on.

Your website chat bot does not go dark: while AI is paused it switches to a lead-capture form and notifies the account owner. A generation that has already started will finish. Scheduled AI campaigns are held as drafts, and the account owner is notified.

ContX alerts the account owner by email and in the product at 50%, 80% and 100% of each allowance, and of any Extra Usage cap. Current usage, remaining allowance and the reset date are shown on the usage page.

7. Extra Usage

Extra Usage is off by default. Only the account owner or a billing administrator can turn it on, and must set a monthly cap when doing so. When the cap is reached, AI features pause again until the allowance resets or the cap is raised. Owners can also set monthly limits for individual features.

Extra Usage is billed monthly in arrears at the rates in your Order or, if none, at these rates (excluding taxes):

UsageUSDEURGBP
Extra AI credits, per 1,000$20€18£15
AI video, per video, 2 revisions included$79€69£59
Extra video revision$29€27£23
Extra enriched leads, per 100$50€45£39

You can also prepay credit packs of 1,000 credits. Prepaid credits are used before Extra Usage is billed and expire at the end of your subscription term. Discounts on plan fees do not apply to Extra Usage unless your Order says so.

8. AI video

AI video is counted per video, not by length. Each video can be up to 60 seconds and includes 2 revisions. Each further revision is charged at the extra revision rate. Low-resolution previews are free.

Accelerate includes 2 videos each billing month. On Growth, videos are bought one at a time at the per-video rate. AI video is not available on Starter.

9. Lead enrichment

An enriched lead is counted once, when it is first enriched. Duplicates of the same person are not counted again. Enriching the same lead again after 90 days counts as a new enrichment. Enriched-lead allowances are pooled across your workspace.

10. Plan changes and trials

If you upgrade during a billing month, the new plan’s allowances apply at once, prorated for the rest of that month. A downgrade applies from your next renewal.

Free trials include 200 AI credits for content and image generation. AI video, the website chat bot and AI visibility are not included in a trial. When those 200 credits are used, AI features pause until you choose a paid plan; no extra credits can be added during a trial.

11. Fair use

You may not use automation, multiple accounts or any other method to get around allowances, caps or credit values; resell or transfer credits outside a Channel Partner plan; or use AI features in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy in Exhibit A to the MSA. If usage is abnormal or puts the Services at risk, ContX may limit it after notice where practicable, as allowed by section 3 of the MSA.

12. Channel partners

For Channel Partner plans, allowances, pooling across End Clients and usage rates are set in the Channel Partner’s Order. ContX bills the Channel Partner only. The Channel Partner sets its own prices to End Clients.

13. Changes to this policy

ContX may update this policy by posting a new version at this address and giving at least 30 days’ notice to the account owner. A change that reduces your allowances, raises the credit value of an action or raises Extra Usage rates applies to a prepaid subscription term only from its next renewal. Other changes apply from the date stated in the notice.
